School bus drivers in the province of British Columbia not only have the duty of safely transporting school children, they also have the responsibility to reduce unnecessary school bus fuel emissions while idling that can expose their passengers to health risks. With fuel being a large operating cost for school bus fleets, idling is a large contributor to fuel wastage and harmful emissions to our environment.

Canada's transit industry, in partnership with Natural Resource Canada, has taken the initiative to reduce fuel consumption significantly by introducing SmartDriver for school buses.  This unique two module training program can integrate very well with school bus operations.

SmartDriver covers the effects of fuel efficiency, preventative maintenance, idling time and will give operators tips on how to share the road with others.
