New:  School Bus Driver of the Year Ray White, School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay)

The criteria consists of the following recommendations and guidelines;
For the following two selections;
1.      Driver of the year.
2.      Special needs Driver of the year
Driver of the year or Special needs Driver of the year, is to be selected
(Annually) on the basis of there every day job transporting school children
to and from school on a regular basis.
Short narratives (minimum 2 two) from supervisor, teacher, peer, or
principal is to be submitted to a panel of 2 members, no later than November
30th of each year.
This narrative will include the following points for consideration by the
committee
Years of service as a bus driver
Abilities to manage students
Professionalism as a driver
Attitude
Drivers abstract
From these submission a panel consisting of at least 2 members of the
ASTSBC, appointed by the President for that year will select a single
applicant to be chosen for driver of the year. The applicant shall be chosen
on the basis of these submissions as well as a good driving record,
interaction skills with students and staff, professional development, and
outstanding provision of service.  This selection will go forward for final
approval from the executive no later than January 30th of the following
year. The driver must not have previously been chosen as a ASTSBC School bus
Drive of the year. All applications must be clearly marked Driver of the
year or special needs driver of the year.
Deadline for applications is November 30th2010.
Award will consist of;
Plaque to be awarded at the AGM, all expenses paid for the recipient
Hotel/travel meals. (under normal a expense claim)
Cash award ($500.00)
Name publicized in the Magazine
